I use #Pidgin for #IRC, !XMPP, and use the microblog-purple plugin for the !Fediverse (OStatus microblogs). I used to get Twitter on Pidgin too, but microblog-purple hasn't been updated for Twitter API 1.1 https://code.google.com/p/microblog-purple/ One of these days I'll get XMPP working on my !StatusNet server.
