If you think this all sounds like a huge contradiction, that's understandable, but that's because it sounds one-dimensional. In reality it's the lower left corner of the Political Compass. Be collectivist in these aspects, so you can be individualist in these aspects. If you think that corner is indeed a walking contradiction, that's fine too.
In practice, it certainly isn't without internal conflict, as different people argue about what aspects of life fit in which category, and just *how* individualist or collectivist that aspect ought to be.
