“Not equal” Why? (1) not in default #Windows install. Users have to go searching for it; (2*) most downloads do not include a sums file for users to verify integrity. (3) In the past, I’ve found clashes between results of Unix hash/checksum results and fciv results (there were some special invokation parameters needed to match ‘nix tools’ results). (4) Because hash-checking tools & data are an afterthought, Windows users, including technical users, are not familiar or comfortable with file verification processes.
