so, I had even more HD grief: one pair of portable HDs that I use when traveling to copy photos to. I had a look at them because they have files that are not on my old Photos drive... only to find that a lot of files had errors (only part of the image visible or the file not readable at all) and some directories had mysteriously become empty when they shouldn't be. With a lot of side-by-side comparison (using Meld in anger for the first time) I managed to reconstruct everything! #phew! Of course, mishaps like this is *exactly* why I always make TWO copies of my photos! #bettersafethansorry
