back from the disk repair adventure: in short: I turned off the RAID station, and put each of the two disks separately in the enclosure and then tested them by booting SystemRescueCd and running various tools. Disk 1 was fine (but missing file not found); Disk 2 still seemed to have two partitions but they showed a warning in GParted - missing or invalid super blocks. Finally running TestDisk, several reboots, unplugging and replugging, turning off and spinning up again, the partitions were repaired and accessible. Then fsck.ext4 -f to force a check. Finally unmount and put the disk back into the RAID station and tell it to "Reset". Nicely recognized during a normal boot. So, I have a repaired disk - but the missing directory is still missing. :( #sysadmin #raid #systemrescuecd #testdisk #phew!
