   I guess su, yes, plain old su, is broken on #Linux systems. Apparently, Lennart Poettering wants to replace it with 'machinectl shell'. All now bow down and praise their lord Lennart, for He is great.

     @xrevan86 and how often do you have a situation where the shell that su provides is inadequate? I'm not talking about theoretical or hypothetical situations but about real life situations.

     Poettering thinks su is broken for a task needed to be done in some cases. Therefore, a different utility for a different usecase is made.

     @xrevan86 And a patch to su couldn't enable really isolated sessions with a switch? No, this is definitely NIH (or NAPC "not a Poettering creation") at work.
