hey @lohang! good morning and good to see you denting again! have you looked/listened at our 'podcast' recordings yet? anything I could do? (the temple of the tooth DVD is a disappointment - it's all Flash, and in a filesystem that my #debian cannot even read - but I picked up two nice CDs at the airport)
-
@mk howdy! :) It’s still in my phone, I think it’s too fragmented to be called a proper show, unless we record more and make it “complete” :( I’ve been all over the country and didn’t get a chance to go through all the files though. Aaargh, seriously we should troll the temple until they switch to free formats :D
-
@lohang Hi :) I don't think it matters if it's a "proper show" - it will just be a *different kind* of podcast! We already have conversations with (I hope!) some background noise, and the demonstration (of which I have a photo); we could supplement this with small samples of Sri Lankan music and have a 'show' like no other! ;)
-
@lohang then again, we might record some voice to 'glue' fragments to each other, or explain a bit about music and the elections?
-
@lohang yes, the format of the mini-DVD was disappointing - they call it DVD-rom/video but it's odd that under linux I cannot even get a directory listing (only the volumne label) - Windows at least allows me to navigate the directories. Maybe I can find something to convert the .flv files...
-
@mk great, let’s get back to it soon. I will be away during the weekend. But if all goes well next week will be less busy. Will improve/edit the files when I’m home :)
-
@mk #OggConvert can convert .flv files to free formats http://oggconvert.tristanb.net/
-
@lohang I'm busy, too (only partially the result of getting a new internet connection) but I'm eager to work with you on this podcast - and I'll take time out for it :) and before you're off again - have a great weekend!
-
@lohang of course if we need to record some more and I should be in Sri Lanka for that... do tempt me! :D
-
@lohang oh good - I'll add that to my list of things to try out!
-
@lohang ah, the latest version available via already-installed repositories is in fact *newer* than the Debian version on their site! I see no mention of codecs needed - we'll see...
-
@mk I use #OggConvert on my #Trisquel laptop. So it runs without any nonfree codecs, I’m sure. I just tested it converting a .flv file. It works.
-
@lohang great - so then basically it could just depend on what *type* of Flash it is (I've used Gnash as browser plugin but it doesn't handle all Flash...)
-
@mk and you too, have a great weekend! :)
-
@lohang :) well, lets aim for next wekk - but let's not do it in a hurry! This was supposed to be all fun, right? (I'm sure it will be!)
