   trying to gather some info on .flv conversion in Linux - seems I need either ffmpeg or mplayer and (non-free) codecs to be found at Deb Multimedia; making notes... /cc @lohang

     @mk mplayer can play flv, so mencoder should be able to convert it.I don't remember having installed anything from Debian multimedia recntly

     @mcscx thanks, I'll try #tomorrow - tonight, I'm just gathering ideas and commands (into a little doocument and a bunch of bookmarks)

     :-) btw, I can't say if mencoder is the usual way of choice to do it, maybe my ideas are way outdated. The word mencoder no longer >

     @mk > appears in the manpage of mplayer (it used to share the same manpage) so sth may have changed there

     @mcscx well, first usable article I found mentions both mencoder and ffmpeg. and I have mplayer already installed - so a first test will be easy enough. :)
