@mattl I also like #openbox,as (if) it is preconfigured in the #Crunchbang Debian derivative.I only change the color theme to sth friendlier

@mcscx @mattl I like both xfce (running on my under-the-desk-top, heavily edited theme) and openbox (#! on my netbook, with a very slight touch to the theme)

@mk my main window manager is #fvwm. I need a huge desktop and the ability to move the viewport continuously. But not everyone's taste ;-)

@mcscx oh, that has the ability to move - as in a panoramic view? I once had that in Windows and liked it - but now I have some virtual desktops for different (generally) types of work (like Internet, Media, System...) and I've gotten used to that

@mk I often access remote desktops larger than my screen w/VNC. W/ fvwm I move mouse pointer to the screen border=> my viewport moves some %

@mcscx nice - I must try that out some time!

@mk I can send you my #fvwm config files. Debian's default config doesnt use the feature of moving the viewport in fine steps.

@mcscx I was thinking it might come in useful for my laptop which obviously has a much smaller screen than my desktop. It's running Fedora but I'm not entirely happy with that... but I have no tinker time right now - my photo site theme is my top prio

@mk I don't know Fedora, probably there's a #fvwm package ready to install. But indeed, better try this on a spare computer, maybe on the #!

@mcscx I may chuck out Fedora, actually - I'm prepared to do more experimentation on the laptop than on the netbook which I need stable and functional for travel

@mk I have an 1997 notebook w/Debian Lenny in daily usage as a mostly thin client to access remote Linux boxes w/VNC. Runs great w/ #fvwm.

Great :-) But #fvwm is a window manager, not a desktop environment. Maybe you can use e.g gnome's control centre but I never desired that

@mcscx yes, I understand that :) anyway, no time for that for now. Website first, networking second. Then... maybe.
