@simsa0 yes, there are certain #powers difficult to change, but if 30% buyers quit evil companies, those companies may choose to quit evilness

@mcscx if 5% of their current buyers quit evil companies, there won’t be many evil companies, because they compete by very slim profit margins.
-
Thats what I hope. Let's say $company gets evil enough to make a significant no. of ppl leave, they'll a trend change
-
@drak but this doesn't work with entities like Monsanto who care a shit about reputation as their customers are not ppl/consumers
-
@mcscx if all food had to carry notices “created by farmers in effective dept-slavery of Monsanto” that would change, I think.
-
@drak not sure. If you ask ppl in the street many won't have heard the name 'Monsanto' here :-/ Not present in mainstream media, AFAIK.
-
@mcscx if the name were on every second cornflakes pack, a public campaign showing what Monsanto does would have a very real effect on sales, I think. Essentially it is an information problem: People do not know the effects of their decisions.
-
@drak buy this will never happen as they have very powerful lobbying, have their people sitting in authorities, mainstream media...
-
@mcscx it can work. For example greenpeace is already tackling other powerful targets. Takes a long breath, but can work.
