@fsf that leaves one big question in my mind: what if I send an encrypted mail to someone who doesn't use GnuPG? or other encryption? Will they be able to read it?

good question - the answer is no. You can only send encrypted email to people who already have keys setup.

Actually it would be enough to have email programs which setup keys by default and send them as attachments.
