   The #pumpio protocol is already federated. But if you want !GNUsocial or !StatusNet integration then it will have to be done as a bridge server or a multi-protocol client.

     FWIW, I think @evan@status.net made a good design choice in separating the transport from the user interface. But I'm sad that there has been no development for a Web client that offers the same threaded conversations and groups and easily discoverable activity streams to follow.
