     @laurelrusswurm they are only being allowed to decide the taxing of those communities, no their existence. Now I know SCOTUS has basically said "the power to tax is the power to destroy", but we shouldn't let 501c3 rulings affect our community organization.

     @nds essentially #IRS said that when someone does something which can benefit all of humanity, that does not count as charitable.

     @drak @nds @laurelrusswurm I agree that “... we shouldn’t let 501c3 rulings affect our community …” because #IRS policies inherently political. New #FLOSS orgs cannot rely on IRS to understand what they do or why they do or do not…

     ... though this does not mean that I agree with the ruling. Probably the best thing would be for them to talk with Conservancy to ensure their activities qualify, then submit under that umbrella.
