   Sure, GPL software will be GPL software. But if someone starts a new project and don't uses other GPL software and decide later to switch from GPL to another license for this project this is possible as long as all work is from this person. That will not often happen I think ...

     @nawi I can’t see context via #xmpp, but it would be good for a #GPL / #AGPL / #LGPL project to have multiple authors who retain their copyrights. Makes it harder to switch licenses later and protects users better.

     @lnxw48 The original topic was CUPS which was available as GPL and as propritary. Apple hired the developer, the propritary project dies, apple got the rights on the source and re-released CUPS under the GPL.
