   I used to run headless openoffice to enable #Alfresco to transform files to and from #MSOffice formats. Until a power fluctuation crashed the hard drive (and therefore, the database).

     "I used to run ..." sounds much more than it really was. Set-up instructions for #Alfresco had a instructions, including setting up headless #openoffice to auto-start.
