Hmm, looks like the backup of Nikola I made on Hal is incomplete: I have (most of?) the /home tree, but nothing from /etc or /usr. So it looks like I'll have to attempt to boot Nikola from a rescueCD againto get at my scripts and (SSH, maybe other) config files. I did find a link to an old thread here, from when I was setting all that up, which does refresh my memory at least partly (mostly the 'what' but not all of the 'how').
