@gargron @nds As I've spent time in the US South, I'm starting to realize that protesting comes with costs. If there were no costs, there would be no need to protest.
Many civil rights marchers in the #1950s and #1960s were attacked with dogs, firehoses, bullets, billy clubs. In the process, the #wretched undercurrent of #racism was exposed to the world and horrified voters demanded federal intervention. Perhaps pipeline protesters need to make a similar case to voters -- and to the agencies and courts that permitted the construction -- in order to see their desired results.
