so, here's a tip for those wanting to migrate to a new smartphone: I used an app called "App Backup & Restore": it makes a whole archive of all your installed apps (or individual ones, or you can exclude individual ones); for apps with copy protection it adds a link to Play store instead so you can re-install. All written to external SD. I then put that SD into the new phone and just installed the one app. Then started it and asked it to restore; it automatically detects apps already on your phone and deselects those; it also offers to update those for which there is an update.
