@mcscx the thing is, if (once) it works properly, it's invisible and doesn't get in the way. What counts for me most is availability of recent versions of graphics and related software, and the desktop: I can't stand Gnome (especially v3), and KDE requires a different brain (no one's transplanted one yet). The Ubuntu stuff is even worse than Gnome. So - what else? I'm hoping systemd will grow up into something solid and invisible.
