well, damn - that took a long time to figure out: running Debian testing #jessie the latest updates resulted in a somehow broken kernel 3.16-3, USB devices were not properly recognized or initialized and boot process hung. Found out I can start up 3.16-2 and then there are no problems at all. (New type of problem for me so it took 'only' several hours to get to that point - glad it's not a hardware problem though!) #debian #jessie #kernel
