Is that because each site lacks a public stream? I understand what Evan was trying to do. People seemed to think that the #Identi.ca public stream was all that mattered of the #StatusNet network. He was trying to have a true public stream ( located on ofirehose dot com ) that integrated public posts from all servers in the #Pump.IO network, so that smaller instances' users could still be noticed.
