     @mk @mjd I suspect that most of that coal gets shipped to #China (where I expect loose anti-pollution and anti-carbon-dioxide standards, so it likely releases more pollution than it would if #Australia burned it).

     They are expanding solar and wind, but I recall reading that they are also rapidly expanding their coal-fired power plants, with the pollution to prove it.

     @lnxw48 true, because they cannot replace everything at once - that's huge - but their renewable energy is also huge and proportionally they're actually doing more than most countries
