I think XMPP may be a superior protocol to IRC, though it's a little difficult to find conference bridges. I'm surprised that Kaiwa didn't gain much traction: http://getkaiwa.com/

@drak wechat with glowing bear seems to work well along these lines but it's still a lot of setup. Several of the users on #libernil use those two.

i believe it's the web interface. so many things are jammed into a browser these days and that's what people go for. can't access it in a browser? people don't want it.

@drak bundled third-party libraries that require the maintainer of each snap to patch. can't just patch the vulnerable lib in one place.
