@mk I've also activated daylight saving time (found under "Time Zone" tab) so now the time is actually correct and comes from FRITZ. excellent. daily system settings backup is adjusted as well. On to app updates! #NAS

oh, poking around, I find a little file in the tmp folder on the #NAS called badblock.conf - it has a report of the state (errors, bad blocks etc.) of each of the four disks (identified by logical number and serial#). ZERO errors and bad blocks on all four. good!

@mk yes, indeed there's a function for backing up system settings, and I can even make a scheduled backup. I could dedicate a little USB flash drive for that. firster: #tea! #NAS

too late now to start changing SSH config, but I did write up my fix for the user IDs. On day I'll dump all of these documents in a wiki. or something. but it helps writing things down anyway: you'll remember more later about how to fix problems. #NAS #networking

just solved another problem that's been nagging me for nearly ever: my main user on Dennis had a different UID than my same-named main user on Nikola - result: files on external drives owned by main user when plugged into one computer…
