    And I don’t think performance is an issue today. Most program performance is limited either by network latency or by disk latency. For general computation the few percent overhead of the !Hurd compared to #Linux won’t hurt. If you want a few numbers, there’s a test for that on Phoronix: http://phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=debian_gnu_hurd&num=1
