Reminds me of Sturgeon's Law: "90% of !SciFi is crap, but then 90% of everything is crap." So let me formulate @KZimmermann's law: "Disabling #Javascript blocks 98% of advertising, but then disabling Javascript blocks 98% of everything." #Javascrippled

@strypey Try without #JavaScript enabled. IMO, no browser should allow sites to mess with your clipboard or your click settings without your prior approval.

jquery is never served alone. If you already trust the site to deliver #Javascript then it doesn't matter if the jquery is delivered directly from the same site or from the jquery CDN. Any malicious code can be delivered in the site's Javascri…

!decentralife !selfhosting !privacy !fs If you need some free software #javascript library (jquery, mathjax, etc) on your website, do you host it on your server, or do you link to the #CDN?

The system notifications can come from different sources. A "You've got mail" notification would be generated by the mail client, a "You've got virus" notification would be generated by the anti-virus software. But browser can now access the …

@maiyannah Local repositories for #Javascript is a good start, but it's Javascript dependency for delivering content that really makes me sad. It's partly an accessibility issue, partly a seach engine visibility issue, partly an archiving issu…

@kat And then there's the whole security issue that @roland touched on -- I don't want some arbitrary web site running executable code on my computer. And when that #Javascript gets pulled in from multiple sources it's easy (but wrong) to just…

♻ @kat: "Also, surely asking the client to run the code to build the pages is better design than making everything happen server side." That may be true if you're running an underpowered server that can't generate pages, but not for the user…

#JavaScript has a lot !security implications and it can currently not be understood by most search engines (I don't know even one that can). So if you want to drive good (and a lot) content into the search engines, you cannot bypass "sta…

@taknamay I wouldn't be surprised if there was some !tcltk (minus the Tk GUI) in the Space Shuttles. A lot of network equipment uses it. But I really don't see why #JavaScript escaped the browser.

@kzimmermann I think we both know the answer. If we allow #JavaScript complete control over our browsers, sites can use it for targeting and presenting advertising.

Once we finally kill the last bits of #Java and #Flash in the browser, I think it is time to focus on eliminating JS-required ( #JavaScrippled ) sites. #JavaScript

@dougsportazine Could that uploader be dependent on #Flash or a gazillion megs of #JavaScript?

Hätte ich geahnt, dass jmd. das mit dem #Javascript #FuckUp nach "Twitter" schiebt, hätte ich nicht den #WDR adressiert sondern @WDR ;)

@daw Thanks. Now I have to find which browser I still allow #JavaScript on. That's a severely #JavaScrippled site.
