@mmn I was thinking of filing a bug suggesting that fancy URLs should be required. Maybe some #nginx users would like to document how to make that work. Also, any decent host allows using subdomains, so !gnusocial should be installed in the root of the [sub]domain.

@windigo That's what I suspected once I heard about the #nginx changes. Still, ISTM that applications should recognize when successive pages have the same content. Hopefully, that'll get fixed.

#NoteToSelf: When you add another #PHP extension, restarting #fastcgi / #php-fpm is not enough. You have to restart the web server, too. (at least #Apache, may be able to just reload #Lighttpd; not sure about #Nginx, since I've never used it)

By the way, if you’re thinking about running !sn / !gnusocial on #lighttpd, the included lighttpd.conf.example file makes it very easy to get things running. #nginx, #cherokee, #hiawatha users should contribute similar files, to make it even easier to !selfhost.

@nybill @windigo ISTM someone that has !sn or !gnusocial working with #nginx should submit a config.nginx example file. The #lighttpd example file really helps.
